How To Make Dippity Glass Flowers Video

As promised this is my first video where you can learn the very basic flower used as filler for a bouquet.  Hopefully you can learn some thing from this and more will come.

Materials To Make Dippity Glass Flowers

These are the materials needed to make dippity glass flowers:

1. Thinner ( I think the generic name for it is acetone )
Use this to dilute the dip it solution in order to make it become workable.  If it is too thick, the film layer will either break or become too thick.  On the other hand a too thin solution will be too dilute and will not even stick to the petal frames.Do a trial and error to find the correct mixture.

2. Dip It Solution Type A
This is a product of China and the best to work with but the resulting colours are too 'plastic looking'.  Some mixing with other colours might help.

3.Glass Beads
This tiny glass beads will add the sparkling effect to the flowers.

4.Dip It Solution Type B
This is also a product of China and I think have the most variety of colours.

5.Strengthener Solution
You will need this to strenghtened the plastic films as well as a adhesive for the flower beads.

6.Floral Tape
Any type of floral tape is ok.

7.Dip It Solution Type C
This is supposed to be the product of USA as printed on the container but I wonder if they really are.  This type of dip it solution needs a lot of thinner to work with. However the film that is formed is more sturdy and opaque. It has a fragrance add into it so it smells good when you work with it. :).

8.Cutter and Pliers
Any type will do.

9.Wires
Any type will do.

10.Stamen
Any type will do.

11. Gold dust
To be used with the glass bead to add the sparkling effect to the flower.

I will be posting a video for beginners to learn a very basic step by step how to make a dippity glass flowers.

Dippity Glass Flowers

Dippity Glass crafts is one of the popular hobbies back in the 70's.  It is also known as “Wire Dip Craft”, “Dip It Fantasy Film”, “Dippity Glass”, “Formafilm” and “Fun Film”.  However the products for this craft now is almost nowhere to be found now.  In my own google research I discovered that it is hardly available even in online stores.  If you are looking to buy one for yourself, do search under the "dip it fantasy film" keyword, you may be lucky to find one or two websites selling the products.
However, dip-it film crafts is not so archaic in Malaysia albeit many resources  recorded that the crafts started back in the mid-70s.  It has somehow survive the test of time and as of today it is still making its way into elegant and classy weddings.  Dip- it flower is made into the form of wedding bouquet, hand bouquet, centre piece, gifts decoration and other form of decorations.  While maintaining its original old techniques of dipping a metal wire in the form of petals into the liquid plastic other new techniques are created and incorporated in order to produce a variety of wonderful results.
A small community of this crafts lovers is flourishing in Malaysia even though slowly but undoubtedly strong enough to survive the crafts in many years to come.
